One simple thing, that will make you achieve your internship Goals
There are many tips about how to achieve you goals. However, I found one simple exercise which can really make the difference. Read more to find it out.
Before writing this week’s article, I felt lost. My day-to-day tasks in the past two weeks felt quite repetitive. There was not too much new stuff going on. The initial goals I set out to achieve by the end of this internship got “blurry.”
Four weeks ago, I decided to start this newsletter. Every article should cover the most valuable and interesting learnings from my internship for you to apply. For the past two weeks, coming up with actionable advice was difficult.
Why is it so difficult to come up with valuable content? Where did my ideas come from in the beginning?
Yesterday, I reflected on this question. To be honest, it was hard to find out what actually made me come up with things to write about in the beginning. Maybe it was the sheer novelty of the experiences here in Singapore. But after settling down and finding a routine, something else is needed as inspiration.
This “something else” is empty words, unless you choose to actually implement supporting measures on a day-to-day basis. What I refer to are daily, weekly, or monthly routines that force you to rethink and act upon your goals.
This conclusion brings me to the key takeaway from today’s post:
For each of your internship, personal, or professional goals, have 1-3 daily, weekly, or monthly routines that ensure you work towards achieving them.
To clarify what that means, I will share what my plan to continuously share more interesting and valuable content with you will look like.
Every night, write down “What was the thing that made today different from every other? How did I change today?”
Spend 30 minutes every morning either after breakfast or on the way to work listening to an audiobook on kindle.
At the end of each week, write down how successful the above two were. Adjust to new measures if necessary.
Now it’s your turn! If you are on Mac, open up the stickies app and write down three supporting measures for the current goal you want to achieve. Be as specific as possible. If you are on PC, do the same thing but choose another app^^ If you prefer physical notes, take a stick note and post it somewhere, where you will see it every day.
I hope you find any value in what I talked about today. If you did, as always, share this with your friends or colleagues to get them on the same track.
